The Moroccan National Olympic Committee (CNOM) unveiled the list of athletes who will represent Morocco at the Paris 2024 Olympic Games during an event held on Wednesday in Rabat.
The presentation was attended by CNOM President Faïçal Laraïchi and Minister of National Education Chakib Benmoussa. Benmoussa emphasized the importance of sport in the Kingdom's development strategy and praised the commitment of coaches, families, and all contributors to Morocco's sporting excellence.
Sixty athletes, comprising 42 men and 18 women, will compete across 19 different disciplines at this major sporting event. Faïçal Laraïchi congratulated the athletes on their qualification, highlighting it as a significant achievement given the intense competition in the qualifying rounds. He stressed the importance of preparation time and a fighting spirit to reach the podium.
The CNOM President reiterated the organization’s full support for the athletes, particularly in terms of morale and psychology, and urged them to redouble their efforts to represent Morocco with dignity and aim for medals. Chakib Benmoussa also highlighted the role of sport and education in youth development, commending the athletes for their dedication and determination.
Morocco, which has won 24 medals since its first participation in the Olympic Games in 1960, aims to surpass its past performances this year. Athletics remains the Kingdom’s most prolific discipline, having secured 20 of the 24 medals, including 7 gold.
