On Thursday, Renault Group's Tangier plant celebrated the production of the first Dacia Joggers, available in both hybrid and combustion versions. A press conference was held to mark the occasion, attended by key figures including Ryad Mezzour, Minister of Industry and Trade; Denis Le Vot, Managing Director of Dacia; Thierry Charvet, Director of Industry and Quality at Renault Group; and Mohamed Bachiri, Managing Director of Renault Maroc.
The Tangier plant's production line 2 has been modernized to produce the Dacia Jogger, intended for the European and Moroccan markets, with an annual capacity of 120,000 vehicles. This model uses the CMF-B platform and includes a hybrid version, making it the first hybrid vehicle manufactured in Morocco.
«This event strengthens the partnership between the Kingdom of Morocco and Groupe Renault. It also testifies to the success of the Moroccan automotive platform, the know-how of its human capital, and the high competitiveness of its local suppliers. With this new vehicle, Morocco continues its transition to electric and hybrid mobility in line with the High Royal Orientations of King Mohammed VI, setting decarbonization as an essential pillar of the new industrial strategy», stated Ryad Mezzour, Minister of Industry and Commerce.
A symbol of carbon neutrality and environmental respect, the Tangier plant plays a central role in Renault Group's industrial strategy. It «welcomes a new member of the Dacia family: the Dacia Jogger. This versatile and affordable family vehicle embodies Dacia's success story in Europe», said Denis Le Vot.
To ensure production of the Jogger, the plant has integrated some 30 robots into the sheet metal and assembly departments, and trained more than 2,500 employees, including 700 specifically in electrical engineering.
The manufacture of this car model also strengthens Renault Maroc's role in the national automotive industry, with a local integration rate of 65.5% and local sourcing sales of 2.06 billion euros in 2023.
Dacia Jogger will be available in Morocco starting September 20, with pre-orders opening on July 12 on the dacia.ma website. The model will be offered with a 102 hp Blue dCi diesel engine, and a hybrid version will be available by the end of 2024.
