Morocco's U23 team suffered a late defeat against Ukraine on Saturday, July 27, in Saint-Étienne, during the second round of Group B at the Paris 2024 Olympic Games. Despite a red card for Volodymyr Salyuk, Ukraine extended their lead in the eighth minute of added time.
Dmytri Kryskiv opened the scoring for Ukraine in the 22nd minute. Morocco created several opportunities but only managed to equalize through a Soufiane Rahimi penalty in the 64th minute. However, Ukraine's Igor Krasnopir secured victory with a goal in the 90+8th minute.
Argentina defeated Iraq 3-1 in the other Group B match. All four teams will compete again on July 30, with only two advancing to the next round. Morocco will face Iraq, while Ukraine plays Argentina.
Morocco previously lost to Ukraine in a friendly match in Antalya, Turkey, last March. Oleg Ocheretko scored the only goal of the game.
