The National Secretariat of the Moroccan Front for Palestine Support and Anti-Normalization expressed strong disapproval of the recent decision to receive a «new official at the Zionist Liaison Office in Rabat», replacing David Govrin who served Israel's permanent ambassador to Morocco.
They group emphasized the «sentiment among many Moroccans who wish to sever relations with the occupation entity, cancel the normalization agreement and its subsidiary agreements, close the liaison office».
Following its meeting on Saturday, August 3, 2024, the secretariat expressed surprise at «the Moroccan government's decision to send condolences following the assassination of political leader Ismail Haniyeh, while remaining silent about the expulsion of the imam of Al-Aqsa Mosque for mourning Haniyeh during his sermon last Friday».
The secretariat also acknowledged the widespread international solidarity with the Palestinian people, their cause, and their liberation efforts.
Additionally, they highlighted the success of the 17th National Day organized on August 3, 2024, noting that «at least 45 cities participated in demonstrations in support of the resistance». The demonstrations called for an end to the conflict, criticized «the role of the international community and certain Arab regimes», and voiced opposition to «normalization with the Zionist entity».
