Moroccan international referee Bouchra Karboubi, who has been officiating since 2016, will oversee the semi-final of the women's soccer tournament at the Paris Olympic Games (JO 2024).

The match, scheduled for this Tuesday in Lyon, will feature the USA and Germany. Her compatriot Fatiha Jermoumi will assist her as referee, alongside Zambia's Diana Chikotesha and South Korea's Kim Yu-Jeong.

During the group phase of the Olympic Football Tournament, Bouchra Karboubi refereed the Spain-Japan match. Prior to that, she officiated at the 2023 Women's World Cup held in Australia and New Zealand, in addition to several other international and local championships.

Bouchra Karboubi also became the first Arab woman to referee a match at the African Cup of Nations (CAN 2023), in the last edition held in Côte d'Ivoire. She officiated the Nigeria-Guinea Bissau match in the final round of Group A, as well as the match between Senegal and Côte d'Ivoire in the Round of 16.

At the national level, Bouchra Karboubi was the first Moroccan woman to referee a Throne Cup final when AS FAR and Moghreb de Tétouan contested the 2019-2020 title in Agadir in May 2022. In 2020, she became the first woman to be appointed principal referee for a Moroccan men's league match, officiating the Botola Pro match between Olympique Club de Khouribga (OCK) and Moghreb Athlétic de Tétouan (MAT).

At the current Olympic Games 2024, the other semi-final of the soccer tournament will feature Brazil against Spain in Marseille. The final is scheduled for August 10 at the Parc des Princes in Paris.
