PJD Secretary General Abdelilah Benkirane has welcomed the appointment of Yahya Sinwar as the new head of the political bureau of the Palestinian Hamas movement, following the assassination of Ismaïl Haniyeh last week in Iran.
In his letter, published on Wednesday, August 7, Benkirane extended his sincere congratulations on behalf of himself and the members of the Justice and Development Party in Morocco. «We are delighted with this successful choice», he wrote.
The Secretary General of the Islamist party expressed his belief that under Sinwar's leadership, Hamas will continue «the march of resistance and the struggle against the brutal Zionist enemy, until the Palestinian people achieve all their legitimate rights, including the establishment of an independent Palestinian state with Al-Quds Al-Sharif as its capital».
Abdelilah Benkirane attended Ismail Haniyeh's funeral in Doha, Qatar, on August 2, where he delivered a speech to the attendees.
