The Judicial Police, in collaboration with the General Directorate for National Security (DGSN), arrested two individuals suspected of kidnapping a Belgian man and torturing him in an apartment in Marrakech.

The arrest took place on the evening of Monday, August 12, while the victim had been found and released on Saturday, August 10.

The two suspects, a Moroccan and a French-Moroccan, are 34 and 38 years old, according to a DGSN press release. The French-Moroccan individual is said to have incited his partner to carry out the kidnapping. The victim was found with signs of violence on his body.

According to the initial investigation, the motives for the kidnapping were linked to a suspicious business transaction between the victim and the kidnappers. The main suspect is also believed to be involved in a case of forgery and fraud, which is currently under investigation.

The Belgian citizen was taken to a medical facility for treatment, while the two suspects were placed in police custody for further investigation.
