Local sources in the Nador region reported that a video showing Spanish Civil Guard members chasing a boat in the water depicts an incident that occurred on August 25, 2024. The incident involved four individuals, including a girl, who attempted to migrate irregularly from Morocco to Melilla in a boat.

According to the same source, the individuals refused to comply with warnings from the Royal Marine Gendarmerie patrol, which pursued the boat in an attempt to stop it. As they approached the coast of Melilla, Spanish Civil Guard elements intervened on a large rubber boat, attempting to prevent their progress.

After multiple warnings, the Spanish elements performed a dangerous maneuver that resulted in a collision with the tourist boat, causing it to capsize and throwing the four individuals into the sea.

Members of the Royal Maritime Gendarmerie intervened to assist the four individuals, who were taken to the Royal Gendarmerie station in Beni Ansar port. One of the individuals fainted and was transported to the regional hospital in Nador for treatment before being discharged.

The concerned authorities have launched a judicial investigation under the supervision of the competent public prosecution to clarify all the circumstances surrounding this incident.
