Since the end of last week, the Marrakech Prefecture of Police has intensified its security operations to address Highway Code violations, dangerous driving, and other criminal activities that threaten public safety.

On the night of August 24 and in the early hours of August 25, these operations resulted in the arrest of 93 individuals, including those involved in offenses against public order and morality. Authorities also seized 23 vehicles driven by individuals who posed a threat to road safety. Additionally, four drivers were arrested for driving without a license, and 176 cyclists were cited for not wearing helmets.

During the night of August 26 to 27, the Marrakech police prefecture reported 86 arrests of individuals caught in the act of committing crimes or who were wanted for various offenses, primarily those against public morality. Furthermore, 43 vehicles were impounded for endangering road safety, and police units recorded 486 Highway Code violations, including 212 related to motorcycle riders not wearing helmets. A total of 111 motorcycles or tricycles were seized.

The Marrakech Prefecture of Police has announced that intensified security operations will continue systematically to reduce the prevalence of traffic offenses on public roads. This follows the arrest of a French-Moroccan motorist on Thursday, August 15, for dangerous drunk driving.

A video shared on social media captured the suspect's car causing a series of hit-and-run accidents, striking pedestrians and cyclists. The incident sparked outrage online, following the tragic death of an elderly man in a similar incident.
