The Spanish National Police in Mallorca arrested two Spanish businessmen working in the agricultural sector for financially exploiting Moroccan workers. The businessmen charged between €15,000 and €22,000 for work contracts that granted the workers legal access to Spain, resulting in their exploitation under unfair working conditions.
After a thorough investigation lasting more than three months, the police uncovered the company's structure and the distribution of funds between the businessmen and an individual responsible for recruiting workers in Morocco.
Additionally, these individuals were charging between €6,000 and €8,000 for other employment contracts, which helped foreigners regularize their legal status in Spain. Approximately 26 people are believed to have obtained regularization through this company.
Due to outstanding debts and the need to maintain their contracts to avoid losing their legal status and residency in Spain, the foreign workers were forced to accept exploitative working conditions that violated labor laws.
At the end of the investigation, police arrested the businessmen on charges of human trafficking for labor exploitation, facilitating illegal immigration, and belonging to a criminal organization. UCRIF is continuing its investigation, and additional arrests may be made in the future.
