A 35-year-old Moroccan was expelled from Italy for property and personal crimes, Italian Interior Minister Matteo Piantedosi announced on August 31.
The man in question was already under surveillance by the anti-terrorism unit for an assault in France, according to Italian media reports. In fact, the man allegedly committed an «knife attack in Cannes», France, last October, shouting «Allah Akbar».
He was expelled from Italy on August 29, escorted to Casablanca, where he was handed over to the Moroccan authorities.
The same source explains that he was considered dangerous and was recently arrested for serious crimes in Italy. Lucca police investigated him in May for being behind a violent knife-wielding robbery, during which he allegedly injured three compatriots, causing one of them permanent facial disfigurement. This episode led to his arrest and detention in Lucca prison.
After his residence permit renewal was rejected, the expulsion decree was carried out with an escort to the border.
