The OPE strait crossing operation ended on Sunday, September 15, with a record number of departures and arrivals, totalling over 1.7 million passengers registered on board. Since June 13, the ports of Algeciras and Tarifa have welcomed almost 75% of travellers, Spanish media report.
The return phase, which began on July 15, ended with an increase in the number of passengers and vehicles of 5.3% and 7.2% respectively compared with 2023. There was also a 4.8% increase in the number of boat trips.
Up to Sunday, 1,710,131 passengers and 409,055 vehicles had embarked, and 5,997 trips had been made by boat.
