Passengers at Marrakech airport on Monday evening were caught off guard when their EasyJet flight to Lyon was canceled at the last minute. According to those contacted by Le Progrès, the decision was made without any explanation, leaving passengers in a state of confusion.
«No one from EasyJet was there to inform or assist us. We had to book a flight with another airline, departing Tuesday evening, just to finally get back to Lyon», one passenger told the French media outlet.
On Tuesday, EasyJet confirmed to the same source that flight EJU4479 from Lyon to Marrakech and the return flight EJU4480 on September 16 had been canceled due to a technical issue with the aircraft.
Without a solution to the problem or the availability of a replacement plane, the flights could not operate. «We did our utmost to minimize the impact of the cancellation on our customers, informing them directly of the options to make a new reservation, or to receive a voucher or refund through the contact details provided at booking», the company stated.
According to the same source, customers who paid for accommodation for the night the flight was scheduled to operate «will be reimbursed for their expenses».
