Ajman Club, a UAE Pro League team, announced on Monday, September 30, 2024, the signing of Moroccan international midfielder Abdelhamid Sabiri on loan from Italy's Fiorentina. In a statement on their official X account, Ajman Club welcomed the «World Cup Lion» to their ranks, referring to the 27-year-old playmaker's move to the Emirati side.

Sabiri began his professional career with Germany's Nürnberg before making a name for himself in Italy's Serie A. The club's statement also highlighted his historic contribution to the Moroccan national team's performance at the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar.

The midfielder spent the second half of last season on loan at Saudi Arabia's Al-Fayha Club from Fiorentina, who had been reluctant to utilize his services. Despite Al-Fayha's attempts to secure a permanent transfer, the offer did not meet the player's expectations, according to local newspapers.

Sabiri's move to Ajman Club comes as a replacement for fellow Moroccan Aymen El Hassouni, who joined the team during the previous summer transfer window from Qatar's Muaither SC. Reports suggest that Ajman's coaching staff was dissatisfied with El Hassouni's performance, leading to the termination of his contract shortly after the season began.

The loan deal offers Sabiri a fresh opportunity to regain his form and confidence, having struggled for playing time at Fiorentina, which affected his performance and led to his absence from recent Moroccan national team camps. Ajman Club currently sits 11th in the UAE Pro League and hopes that Sabiri's presence, alongside compatriots Mohamed Souboul and Aymen El Hassouni, will help him settle into the team quickly.
