On Tuesday, October 1, 2024, Morocco's Minister of Agriculture, Maritime Fisheries, Rural Development and Water and Forests, Mohammed Sadiki, signed a partnership agreement with David Li, General Manager of Huawei Morocco, to develop techniques and technologies applied to agriculture.

The signing ceremony took place on the sidelines of the 15th edition of the El Jadida Horse Show and was attended by professionals and several officials from the ministry, according to a press release from the event.

The agreement reflects the shared desire to collaborate in supporting the digital transition of the agricultural sector within the framework of the Generation Green strategy. The Digital Pole of Agriculture, the structure mandated by the Ministry of Agriculture to support the roadmap of the Generation Green strategy through digital means, aims to introduce connected platforms and deploy agricultural e-services in pilot sites, as well as strengthen the capacities of farmers and professionals and encourage youth entrepreneurship.

The Generation Green strategy has placed digital technology as a transversal axis to support the implementation of the strategy's roadmap, sustain the transformation of the sector and food systems, and improve the living conditions of farmers. The strategy has set a goal of reaching 2 million farmers connected to e-services by 2030, which is expected to result in irrigation water savings of 20 to 30% and a 20% improvement in agricultural productivity, as outlined in the press release.

The partnership between the Ministry of Agriculture and Huawei marks a significant step towards accelerating the digital transformation of Morocco's agriculture sector, leveraging technology to enhance efficiency, sustainability, and the livelihoods of farmers across the country.
