The crisis cell established by the Moroccan Embassy in Beirut, following recent Israeli bombings on Lebanon, is «monitoring the situation of the Moroccan community residing in Lebanon around the clock», sources close to the matter told Yabiladi on Thursday.
While maintaining «direct contact» with members of the Moroccan community, the crisis cell is prepared to «respond to developments in the situation and take necessary measures», the sources added.
The same source confirmed that «the Embassy of the Kingdom of Morocco in Beirut is in constant contact with the vast majority of members of the Moroccan community residing in Lebanon and has their contact information to track their situation, except for a few exceptions whose whereabouts have not been reached and who most likely left Lebanon before the tense situation or left permanently years earlier to settle in other countries».
It is worth noting that «a significant number of Moroccan citizens left Lebanon with their families during the period before the outbreak of the current events and immediately after the frequent warnings and calls to leave», the same sources added.
The Moroccan Embassy is coordinating with the Lebanese authorities to facilitate the sheltering of members of the Moroccan community.
The Ministry's «tracking cell and the diplomatic mission in Beirut are currently engaged in studying and developing all possible scenarios according to the course of events», they concluded.
Earlier this week, Moroccan mothers and their children have been stranded in Lebanon amid Israeli bombings. While many have left their houses seeking safe shelters, these mothers have urged immediate repatriation.
