OCP Africa signs agreement with Malian Ministry of Agriculture

OCP Africa, a subsidiary of the OCP Group, signed a partnership agreement with the Malian Ministry of Agriculture, supported by the World Bank, in Bamako on Wednesday.

«This partnership aims to enhance soil health and fertility, support sustainable agriculture through concrete actions, including soil mapping for optimized agricultural practices, the development of Agricultural Service Centers for farmers, and the promotion of young and female entrepreneurship in agri-tech», said Mohamed Anouar Jamali, CEO of OCP Africa.

OCP Africa's agreement aligns with the tradition of «close ties between Morocco and Mali, founded on enduring friendship and ongoing cooperation», he emphasized.

The Malian side described the partnership with OCP Africa as «strategic». It encompasses «soil health and fertility management and improvement, comprehensive support for small-scale farmers through the development of new-generation agricultural service centers, youth and women entrepreneurship as a catalyst for accelerating sector transformation through the Digital Farming School program, and improved access to fertilizers».

Mali has joined the initiative launched on November 6, 2023, by King Mohammed VI to facilitate Sahelian countries' access to the Atlantic Ocean.

On the sidelines of the 79th session of the UN General Assembly in New York, Foreign Minister Nasser Bourita met with his Malian counterpart, Aboulaye Diop, last week.
