The Kingdom of Morocco has declared that it is not concerned by the decision handed down on Friday, October 4, 2024, by the Court of Justice of the European Union (CJEU) regarding agricultural and fishing agreements, according to an official press release from the Moroccan Foreign Ministry.

Morocco asserted that it «is not a party to this case, which concerns the European Union on the one hand, and the 'Polisario,' supported by Algeria, on the other hand. Morocco did not participate in any of the stages of this procedure and, consequently, does not consider itself concerned by the decision».

Despite this, the press release argues that the court's decision «contains obvious legal errors and suspicious factual errors», suggesting «at best a total ignorance of the realities of the case, if not a flagrant political bias». It accuses the court of substituting itself for the competent UN bodies and contradicting their well-established positions and approaches.

Morocco calls on the Council, the European Commission, and EU member states to «take the necessary measures to respect their international commitments, preserve the achievements of partnership, and provide the Kingdom with the legal certainty to which it is legitimately entitled, as an EU partner on several strategic issues».

Morocco reiterated its «constant position of not subscribing to any agreement or legal instrument that does not respect its territorial integrity and national unity».
