Inaugurated on Friday in the commune of Amizmiz, Al Haouz province, Douar Shems'y social structure has launched an online fundraising campaign to support orphans affected by last year's earthquake in the region. By the end of October, the campaign aims to raise 450,000 Moroccan dirhams to provide for the needs of 144 children during the winter.
According to the initiative's representatives, the funds will be allocated as follows: supplies for children from kindergarten to primary school (100,000 DH), blankets and heating (50,000 DH), trained accompanying adults (150,000 DH), healthcare (40,000 DH), hygiene (70,000 DH), and water and electricity (40,000 DH).
Donors will receive regular updates on the campaign's progress, news from the community, and the opportunity to visit the site.
In its appeal, the establishment emphasizes the importance of this fundraising campaign to launch Douar Shems'y and ensure the immediate needs of the community during the harsh winter. Future fundraising efforts will be sought to sustain the village's operations beyond 2025.
The inauguration ceremony on Friday was attended by local and international partners, authorities, and residents, who recognized this initiative as a vital part of the post-earthquake reconstruction of Al Haouz.
Douar Shems'y is managed by the Moroccan Association for Assistance to Children in Precarious Situations (AMESIP) within an ecological village that accommodates 144 children. It offers children an educational, cultural, and social framework to help them rebuild their lives. Additionally, the village provides psychosocial support through individual therapy and group workshops.
