The Qatar-Morocco 2024 Year of Culture has unveiled the Dar Al Maghreb Pavilion, a temporary cultural space in MIA Park, Doha. The 1,300-square-meter pavilion, inspired by the UNESCO World Heritage site Ksar Aït Benhaddou, opened to the public on October 9, 2024.
The pavilion offers visitors a chance to explore Moroccan culture and heritage through informative exhibitions and on-site cultural activations. It includes a souvenir shop and tea salon, where visitors can purchase unique Moroccan creations and enjoy traditional mint tea and sweet treats.
The pavilion is divided into four thematic zones: «Land of Confluences», highlighting Morocco's role as a crossroads of civilizations; «Land of Light», showcasing the country's sensory and cultural richness; «Land of Gathering», celebrating Morocco's festive spirit and role as a host of global events; and «Land of Passion», dedicated to the country's love for football.
The Qatar-Morocco 2024 Year of Culture is part of the Years of Culture initiative, led by Sheikha Al Mayassa bint Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani. The initiative aims to foster respect and understanding between diverse cultures. The organization of this year's program is a collaboration between leading institutions in Qatar and their Moroccan partners, with support from Morocco's Ministry of Youth, Culture and Communication, and the respective embassies of Qatar in Morocco and Morocco in Qatar.
