Fez's Sidi Mohamed Ben Abdellah University leads Moroccan public universities

The Times Higher Education World University Rankings 2025, released on Wednesday, October 9, 2024, placed several Moroccan universities in the top 1,500 out of 2,092 institutions worldwide. The rankings are based on five key indicators: teaching, research environment, research quality, international visibility, and knowledge transfer.

For the seventh year in a row, Sidi Mohamed Ben Abdellah University in Fes was ranked as the top public university in Morocco, tied with two other national institutions. Mohammed V University in Rabat and Ibn Tofail University in Kenitra also achieved rankings in the 1,201-1,500 range globally.

Competition was fierce in this year's rankings, with 11 public and 5 private Moroccan universities participating. Other top-ranked Moroccan institutions include Hassan II University in Casablanca, Cadi Ayyad University in Marrakech, Abdelmalek Essaadi University in Tetouan, Hassan I University in Settat, and Mohammed I University in Oujda, all placing in the 1,501+ range worldwide.

It is worth noting that the University of Oxford in the United Kingdom topped THE World University Rankings 2025, maintaining its position as the world's best university.
