Government coalition condemns Israeli actions in Gaza and Lebanon

The governmental majority expressed its «firm condemnation of the war waged by Israel against the Palestinian people, which has claimed the lives of thousands of Palestinians—most of them women and children—while leaving tens of thousands wounded, alongside a policy of mass displacement and widespread destruction».

In a statement issued at the end of a meeting on Wednesday, October 9, in Rabat, the coalition parties called for «an immediate end to this war and a return to negotiations», advocating for «diplomatic mechanisms to stop the bloodshed and violence in the region».

The written declaration emphasized that «the only way to guarantee peace, security, and stability in the region is through a two-state solution, with Gaza as an integral part of an independent, sovereign, and viable Palestinian state, with East Al-Quds as its capital».

Additionally, the majority parties condemned Israel's military actions in Lebanon and expressed their «absolute solidarity with the brotherly Lebanese people and their government». They urged «the international community to intervene urgently to put an end to the attacks of the Israeli war machine and to protect civilians, as well as Lebanon’s unity and sovereignty over its territory».

The meeting of the government majority was chaired by Aziz Akhannouch of the Rassemblement National des Indépendants (RNI), with the participation of Fatima Ezzahra El Mansouri, the national coordinator of the Parti Authenticité et Modernité (PAM), and Nizar Baraka of Istiqlal. Rachid Talbi Alami and Mohamed Mehdi Bensaïd also attended.
