The starting point for the 15th Casablanca International Marathon, set for Sunday, October 27, 2024, has been relocated to the Wilaya of the Casablanca-Settat region (Place Mohammed V), following consultations with the Royal Moroccan Athletics Federation (FRMA).
This decision was made in response to suggestions from participants and sports associations, according to the organizers. «The local authorities, elected officials, and security services of Casablanca were receptive to this collective request», a press release stated on Friday.
«The Wilaya is a powerful symbol, representing the authority and organization that ensure the event's safety and smooth operation. Starting the marathon from this location highlights the connection between institutions and citizens, uniting their efforts to make this sporting event a true local pride», the statement continued.
Organizers also noted that the historic building is situated «in an iconic part of the city, providing a majestic setting for the runners' start». The location’s rich history and architecture enhance the event’s identity and offer participants a unique experience.
Additionally, the statement emphasized that the site is conveniently located near tram lines and an underground parking facility, making it easily accessible for participants and spectators. Its close proximity to the marathon village also makes it «a strategic point, ensuring smoother organization and operations for all involved».
