Morocco's Supreme Council of Audiovisual Communication (CSCA) has approved the creation of four new public sports television channels, marking a significant expansion in the country's sports broadcasting sector. The channels, named Arriyadia 1, 2, 3, and 4, will operate 24/7 via satellite and other technical platforms.
According to a CSCA communiqué released on October 28, 2024, this expansion comes as part of the specifications amendment for the National Broadcasting and Television Company (SNRT). The development aims to support Morocco's upcoming major sporting events, including the 2030 FIFA World Cup, the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations, and the 2025-2029 FIFA U-17 Women's World Cup tournaments.
The new channels will complement the existing Arriyadia network, strengthening public audiovisual services' capacity to cover national, regional, and local sports events. The CSCA emphasized the importance of increased visibility for women's sports and female expertise in the field, highlighting the need for fair media representation in sports coverage.
These additional channels are designed to enhance Moroccan citizens' access to sports information and entertainment through the broadcast of various national and international sporting competitions.
