A Madrid investigative court has remanded an 18-year-old Moroccan man in preventive custody on suspicion of involvement in the murder of Borja Velásquez, a case that shocked Madrid this year, in addition to charges of illegal firearms possession.
Spanish security authorities arrested the young man, who holds Moroccan nationality, last Wednesday in Getafe, on the outskirts of Madrid, on charges of being one of the perpetrators who committed the murder of Borja Velásquez. He is accused of firing the shots that resulted in the victim's death.
The crime occurred on June 4 at 12:30 PM on the road connecting El Pardo and the Montecarmelo district, where Borja Velásquez had met with the perpetrators. After a meeting that ended badly, the killers chased his car, forced him to stop, and shot him, resulting in his death, while his companion survived but sustained serious injuries.
Within 24 hours, security forces managed to arrest one of the killers and his mother, who was driving the car. Police were also searching for the second killer who had fled through abandoned land with another person until he was arrested on Wednesday in Getafe.
Although his name has not yet been revealed, it is known that the perpetrator is an 18-year-old youth who was already of legal age at the time of the crime and has a criminal record from his adolescence. Some sources indicate that he was acquainted with the other perpetrator through criminal activities they conducted together as teenagers.
