Following Morocco’s significant progress in the Sahara dispute, including recognition of its sovereignty over the territory by major powers, the Polisario Front criticized «powerful nations» and accused them of blocking a resolution to the conflict.
In a statement issued after a meeting of the National Secretariat Bureau, chaired by Brahim Ghali, the Front condemned what it described as «the tendency of some great powers, including permanent members of the Security Council, to undermine peaceful principles and solutions in an attempt to bypass international legitimacy».
The statement further accused these powers of attempting to «sidestep international legitimacy and indivisible justice», specifically singling out France. It claimed that France «bears the consequences of its recent positions, which fully align with Morocco's policy of occupation, annexation, and expansion».
The Polisario reaffirmed that the final solution to the conflict lies in the «UN-African Settlement Plan», despite the UN having abandoned it as unfeasible. It also expressed gratitude for the support of «friendly and fraternal countries», with a particular mention of Algeria.
