The European Commission (EC) sidestepped a written question from Spanish MEP Carmen Crespo of the People's Group regarding the opening of negotiations with Morocco for a new fisheries agreement.

On the other hand, the EC reaffirmed its commitment to «its strategic partnership» with the Kingdom, stressing that «the EU and Morocco have established a profound friendship and a solid and multi-faceted cooperation, which the EU intends to take to the next level in the coming weeks and months».

The Commission reiterated that it had taken note «of the Court of Justice judgments on the appeals against the judgment of the General Court of 29 September 2021, as well as the reply to the preliminary ruling request on the labelling of products from the territory of the Western Sahara».

On Monday, November 25, the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Nasser Bourita, called on the European Union to defend the partnership with the Kingdom through actions, not just words. This call coincided with the publication of the EC's response to MEP Crespo's written question.
