Hotel giant Hilton has announced plans to expand its presence in Morocco, aiming to double its portfolio to 20 hotels in the coming years, according to a company press release. The expansion will see the addition of over 1,300 rooms through nine new hotels across seven of Hilton's global brands.
Notable highlights of the expansion include the debut of the Waldorf Astoria brand in Rabat and Morocco's first LXR Hotels & Resorts in Casablanca. Other developments include Curio Collection by Hilton properties in both cities and new Hampton by Hilton locations in Benguerir and Fez.
Carlos Khneisser, Hilton's vice president of development for the Middle East and Africa, stated, «With 13.1 million tourists visiting Morocco in the first nine months of this year, an increase of around two million compared to the same period last year, the country is experiencing significant momentum as a sought-after tourist destination. These nine new signings will add more than 1,300 rooms and around 1,500 team members to Hilton’s growing portfolio in Morocco, where we plan to expand our footprint to over 20 hotels in the coming years».
