The President of the Chamber of Councillors, Mohamed Ould Errachid, signed a joint declaration on Wednesday, December 4, in Panama City with his counterparts from PARLACEN (Central American Parliament), PARLATINO (Latin American and Caribbean Parliament), PARLANDINO (Andean Parliament), and PARLASUR (Mercosur Parliament).

The agreement establishes a Morocco-Latin America and Caribbean Parliamentary Economic Forum. This platform seeks to promote sustainable economic development, strengthen South-South cooperation between Africa, the Arab world, Latin America, and the Caribbean, and advance food, energy, and health sovereignty and security.

As a reminder, on Wednesday, November 27, in Rabat, the Moroccan Parliament was granted «advanced partner» status with the Forum of Presidents of Parliaments of Central America, the Caribbean, and Mexico (FOPREL). The Moroccan parliament had held observer member status in the same organization since 2014.
