Morocco and Gulf States set for key ministerial meeting

Foreign Minister Nasser Bourita received Jasem Mohamed Albudaiwi, Secretary General of the Gulf Cooperation Council, in Rabat on Thursday, December 12. Talks focused on «the strategic partnership» between the kingdom and the monarchies of the regional bloc, Moroccan diplomacy wrote on X.

«Albudaiwi reaffirmed the GCC Supreme Council's constant position in favor of the Moroccan Sahara and the Kingdom's territorial integrity», the same source stresses. The GCC countries reaffirmed their support for Moroccan sovereignty over the Sahara at the end of the organization's 45th summit held on December 2 in Kuwait.

The GCC Secretary General announced that he had sent Nasser Bourita «an official invitation from his counterparts in the Gulf States to hold a new Morocco-GCC ministerial meeting, scheduled for March 6, 2025, in Riyadh». The last meeting between the two parties took place on March 3, 2024, at the GCC headquarters in the Saudi capital.
