Moroccan patrol boat runs aground near Melilla pier

Official sources from the Government Delegation in Melilla reported that a Moroccan maritime patrol boat ran aground near the city’s pier at around 10:30 a.m. on Thursday. The sources stated that the reasons behind the boat’s entry into waters close to Melilla remain unknown.

Following the incident, Moroccan authorities requested assistance from their Spanish counterparts. In response, the city's port pilot and a Spanish maritime rescue vessel were dispatched to the site to help address the issue.

The Government Delegation confirmed that all efforts are being coordinated under the supervision of the naval captain in Melilla, while the circumstances surrounding the Moroccan patrol's presence in the area remain unclear.
