The Spanish National Police successfully dismantled a network that forged rental contracts to facilitate the obtaining of residence permits for Moroccans in the Canary Islands, resulting in the arrest of seven individuals.

The network aimed to facilitate administrative procedures for citizens of Moroccan origin in Spain. According to the Spanish news agency EFE, investigations began a year ago after the discovery of cases of forgery in the residence records in the municipality of Ingenio. The network included individuals with social or family ties who forged rental contracts to register Moroccans in Gran Canaria, whether they were in an irregular situation or in the process of obtaining Spanish citizenship.

A number of residents in Morocco also benefited from these illegal activities, visiting the Canary Islands to renew their residence permits or to obtain Spanish social security.

According to the same source, about twenty people benefited from this network, and seven of them were arrested and brought to justice after the completion of the investigations.
