On Monday, the Ain Sebaa Court of First Instance handed down a four-year prison sentence to Moroccan YouTuber Aicha Sraidi, known online as «Houyam Star». Her husband received a one-year prison term. Additionally, the court ordered the shutdown of her YouTube channel, prohibiting her from broadcasting any content on the platform.

This ruling follows the public prosecution's pursuit of charges against Sraidi, which include «insulting, setting a bad example, violence against children, defamation, and public indecency».

The arrest was prompted by complaints from several associations. They accused Sraidi of disseminating controversial videos on social media, which allegedly contained insults, slander, defamation, and blasphemy. Furthermore, her public declarations of converting to Christianity and renouncing Islam added to the controversy.
