French-Moroccan actor Saïd Taghmaoui recently took to social media to share videos capturing the devastating wildfires in Los Angeles, which have claimed his home.
«We're still a little traumatized. A lot! Without adding fuel to the fire, and without making any sordid puns, we've been through hell. I tried to stay as long as possible to save what I could. But my whole neighborhood went up in smoke, and so did my house. I managed to save a few things, including a car and two or three things. But mostly I managed to save my life», he revealed.
Taghmaoui described the scene in California as «the apocalypse.» He remarked that the situation is «increasingly critical, almost out of control, with a perfect correlation between the super-powerful winds and the flames of hell.» «The winds are so powerful that they are spreading the fire through the embers, in all directions igniting other fires and spreading huge quantities of unbreathable toxic fumes everywhere, like a tornado from hell, preventing any aircraft from taking off and making any help impossible...» the actor added.
In another post, Taghmaoui shared images of destroyed homes and charred vehicles. «The damage is considerable, I never thought I'd see this in my lifetime and there's nothing anyone can do about it,» he lamented.
Since the fires erupted in Los Angeles on January 7, 2025, at least 10 people have lost their lives. According to the latest provisional figures, more than 13,750 hectares have been consumed by the flames, and over 180,000 residents have been forced to evacuate.
