The Moroccan embassy in the US has urged the Moroccan community residing in California, especially those close to areas affected by the wildfires in Los Angeles, to adhere to the guidelines and instructions issued by local authorities to ensure their safety and that of their families.

The Moroccan embassy’s message was issued Sunday, January 12, on X and included a number of recommendations. «Our solidarity goes out to all those affected by the tragic wildfires in Los Angeles. Moroccan citizens residing in affected areas are urged to abide by safety guidelines», the mission wrote on X.

The diplomatic mission urged the Moroccan community in California to follow fire updates through official channels and reliable information sources.

It also called on them to immediately contact evacuation teams and relevant authorities if danger arises and to avoid unnecessary travel to areas near the fires.

The note by the embassy also included a phone number and email address for assistance in extreme emergencies: 202 499 1050, [email protected].

At least 16 people have been killed, and wildfires have swept through 37,000 acres in the greater Los Angeles area, destroying entire communities and more than 12,000 structures, according to a recent update by NBC News.
