The Royal Armed Forces have detained several Algerian nationals who irregularly crossed the border into Morocco. «The arrest occurred on Sunday in the province of Assa-Zag», a Moroccan security source told Yabiladi.
Following the arrest, the Algerians were transferred to the Royal Gendarmerie for further investigation. At this stage, authorities have not yet determined whether the individuals are civilians or military personnel, nor the reasons behind their unauthorized entry into Moroccan territory. The detainees were found without identity papers, but they confessed to being Algerian nationals. Notably, two of those arrested are receiving particular scrutiny from Gendarmerie investigators, the same source added.
This incident is reminiscent of a previous event on December 25, when the Royal Armed Forces apprehended members of the Algerian army, including an officer, who were traveling in a Jeep in the M'Hamid El Ghizlane region.
Just two days after that incident, a Royal Armed Forces drone targeted two all-terrain vehicles carrying approximately 20 individuals associated with the Polisario and Algerian elements. The strike resulted in one fatality—a lieutenant in the Béchar police force—and several injuries. This military operation took place in the Mridimate region, west of the town of Tindouf, within the Moroccan province of Assa-Zag.
