In an open-hearted podcast interview with Emirati entrepreneur and interviewer Anas Bukhash, Moroccan international footballer Achraf Hakimi spoke for the first time about his lawsuit, his divorce, and the strong bond he shares with his mother.

The PSG right-back discussed his beginnings in football, his relationship with his family, and having all his money and assets under his mother’s name. This detail emerged following his divorce from Spanish-Tunisian actress Hiba Abouk.

When asked by Bukhash about Abouk, Hakimi clarified that this arrangement was not something new that came about after his marriage or divorce but rather a family practice since he started his football career.

«The fact is that since I was young, I earned a lot of money from football, but I couldn’t manage it», he explained. «So, my mother managed it all (…) And she helped me deal with these things. I always take her opinion about money when I buy a house or a car or when I earn a lot of money», he added.

«When you have money or fame, you can only trust a few people. And I think that your mother is the only person who truly loves you, whether you have money or not. And I believe that when you have money, your mother will save it for you so you can always keep it», he said.

In the same interview, Hakimi addressed, for the first time, the lawsuit against him that emerged two years ago. The footballer was accused by a woman who claimed to have been assaulted at his home. «I will be honest with you about this—it’s the first time I speak about it with anyone», Hakimi said when asked how the incident affected him.

Hakimi revealed that it was the first time he publicly addressed the issue since it first arose. «We left this matter to the judiciary, and it’s the best way to explain things», he stated.

Hakimi went on to describe the case as one of «blackmail». «We left this matter to the judiciary; we saw it was just a way of blackmail. They wanted to blackmail me, and that’s why we filed a lawsuit, and it went well», he explained.

Hakimi added that the court «handled the matter with efficiency» and assured that soon «everyone will know the truth».
