A Royal Air Maroc flight en route to Casablanca was abruptly halted at Nantes-Atlantique airport on Friday, February 14, following a technical issue with one of its engines. The incident led to the evacuation of all 171 passengers amid concerns of a potential fire outbreak.
Firefighters responded promptly, dispelling fears of an actual fire. Despite this, the situation caused panic among passengers, particularly children, as they quickly exited the aircraft. Several travelers described scenes of stress and anxiety during the evacuation.
In addition to the initial scare, passengers faced further distress due to the prolonged delay. Repairs on the aircraft were still pending 24 hours after the incident, leaving the plane grounded. While some passengers managed to find hotel accommodations, often at their own expense, approximately thirty others were forced to spend the night in the airport terminal.
Originally scheduled for the previous day, the flight was eventually rescheduled for Saturday, February 15, at 9:30 PM. The extended delay left passengers feeling frustrated and disappointed.
