A court in Fez recently sentenced a butcher in his twenties and a sixty-year-old livestock breeder to three years in prison and a fine of 200,000 dirhams for «insulting a constitutional institution» after making derogatory remarks about the king online, according to Assabah newspaper.
The court also ordered the confiscation of their phones, seized by the police, for the benefit of the state, along with a sum of money, which was transferred to the general treasury.
The defendants, both residents of the Ben Debbab area in the Marinids district, were arrested after a video of their remarks circulated on TikTok.
