Marrakech Menara Airport has relocated its security checkpoints—scanners and gates—to the entry points, thereby eliminating long queues. This initiative is part of a series of measures aimed at optimizing passenger flow efficiency.
This development was made possible through collaboration between various airport security authorities, including the Ministry of the Interior, the General Directorate of National Security (DGSN), and the Royal Gendarmerie. Their coordination has allowed for rethinking the security setup while adhering to strict safety standards.
Faced with growing demand, Marrakech Menara, the main entry point for millions of international travelers, has already increased its capacity to accommodate visitors. This includes improvements to better manage space and flow, such as increasing waiting capacity upon arrival and reorganizing control areas for both international and domestic flights. Additional human resources and equipment have also been deployed to ensure fast and efficient service. These measures have reduced waiting times to an average of less than one hour.
To further improve the situation, several projects are underway to reduce this time to 30 minutes and enhance passenger flow and satisfaction. These projects include:
• Redesigning the Departure area
• Installing new management equipment
• Implementing E-Gates
• Adding new boarding gates
• Constructing a new boarding lounge
These actions are made possible thanks to the commitment of the Ministry of the Interior, the Directorate of Immigration and Border Surveillance, the DGSN, the Royal Gendarmerie, Customs services, and the Wilaya of Marrakech.
