Police in Oujda arrested five minors last Friday evening, March 7, on suspicion of involvement in rioting, sports-related violence, and arson.

According to preliminary investigations, a dispute broke out between fans of two local football clubs, most of whom were minors. The altercation quickly escalated into stone-throwing, mutual violence, and the use of a Molotov cocktail, which left one person injured. A video of the incident was later circulated on social media.

The swift intervention of police patrols led to the arrest of four minors caught in the act of throwing stones. Further investigations resulted in the arrest of a fifth suspect, accused of deliberately starting a fire using a bottle filled with flammable materials.

The minors have been placed under judicial investigation under the supervision of the public prosecutor’s office to determine the full circumstances and details of the case. Meanwhile, authorities are continuing their efforts to identify and apprehend any remaining individuals involved in the incident.
