In Spain, Polisario supporters in the Lower House of Parliament marked the third anniversary of Pedro Sanchez's letter to King Mohammed VI, which was made public by the royal cabinet on March 18, 2022, regarding Western Sahara, reports an Iberian media outlet.

MPs from far-left parties, along with Catalan and Basque independents, joined forces with members of the People's Party (traditional right) under the Parliamentary Intergroup for Peace and Freedom for the Sahrawi People, created in December 2024. They reiterated their call for the head of government to revert to Spain's traditional position on the issue by withdrawing support for Morocco’s autonomy plan for the region.

The socialists of the PSOE refused to sign the declaration, as did MPs from Vox. While the far-right party is often critical of Morocco on immigration issues and matters related to Ceuta and Melilla, it openly accuses Polisario’s armed militias of committing terrorist acts against Spanish civilians and military personnel between 1973 and 1986, causing 289 deaths—a figure, Vox claims, surpassed only by the Basque terrorist group ETA.
