The National Coordination Committee for the Families of Moroccan Detainees and Stranded Individuals in Syria and Iraq has reported the death of a 7-year-old Moroccan girl «under mysterious and tragic circumstances» at the Al-Roj camp in northern Syria. In a statement, the committee confirmed that the child was buried without any investigation into the cause of her death, as the Kurdish camp administration failed to conduct an inquiry, further deepening the suffering of her family and loved ones.
The committee strongly condemned this blatant disregard for human rights and called for an urgent and transparent investigation to determine the cause of death and hold those responsible accountable. It also issued an urgent appeal to the Moroccan government, urging it to take immediate action to rescue its citizens stranded in these camps and repatriate them to Morocco.
Additionally, the committee stressed the need for the international community and human rights organizations to fulfill their responsibilities in addressing the catastrophic humanitarian conditions in these camps. Thousands of detainees are enduring inhumane conditions, including severe shortages of food, medicine, and inadequate healthcare.
