The Tindouf camps are currently witnessing protests led by police officers demanding their overdue salaries. «They have been waiting six months for their monthly wages», reports the Forum of Support for the Autonomists of Tindouf (FORSATIN).
The officers have staged sit-ins at their workplaces—discreet and silent demonstrations that have failed to elicit any response from the Polisario leadership, which remains indifferent to their demands, according to the same source. «In response to Brahim Ghali’s indifference, police officers, accompanied by their families, protested in front of the ‘prime ministry’ headquarters in the Boujdour camp», FORSATIN states.
«This protest comes amid an unprecedented security crisis in the Tindouf camps, where crime, kidnappings, and human trafficking have surged due to the Polisario militias’ inability to maintain control».
For years, the Tindouf camps have been dominated by drug traffickers who impose their rule with the complicity of high-ranking Polisario officials.
