The growing spread of «Karkoubi», a drug smuggled from Morocco that combines hashish with clonazepam—a powerful benzodiazepine—has put authorities in Andalusia on high alert.

In this context, police in Algeciras arrested a 46-year-old woman in possession of 169 pills, 12 forged prescriptions, stolen identity documents, and other prohibited medications.

According to Spanish media, officers found psychiatric drugs such as Rivotril and Trankimazin—both commonly sold on the black market—further fueling the region's rising drug trade.

Spanish police have launched awareness campaigns on social media to warn about the dangers of Karkoubi, which has become widespread due to its low cost and easy availability. Authorities stress that it poses a growing threat, particularly among vulnerable populations, earning it the nickname «the poor man's drug».
