ISMAGI is hosting the first edition of the International University Chess Tournament under the theme: «Chess, a Lever for Success». From April 17 to 20, 2025, students from around the world will compete in Rabat in a centuries-old game that has become increasingly popular among young people.

This edition pays tribute to Anatoly Karpov, a living chess legend, on the 50th anniversary of his world championship victory. The guest of honor will be Dr. Bassem Amin, an Egyptian Grandmaster and cardiac surgeon.

On the agenda:

- Thursday, April 17: The Blitz A4—a team tournament that promises to be both fun and strategic.

- Friday and Saturday: The main tournament, featuring rapid games (15 minutes + 10 seconds), sanctioned by FIDE with 11 intense rounds.

- Sunday: Awards ceremony and commemorative gifts for all participants.

The entire event will take place on the ISMAGI campus in Hay Riad, in a studious and passionate atmosphere, with live broadcasts on the most popular platforms among chess fans.

The goal of the event? To establish chess as a true university sport—accessible, inspiring, and recognized. And perhaps, to make Rabat the university chess capital of Morocco.
