Moroccan real estate businessman Anas Sefrioui has formally denied rumors suggesting his potential acquisition of an English football club. On Monday, the Addoha Group CEO stated that he is «not engaged in any discussion, negotiation, or investment intention», either directly or indirectly, in Sheffield Wednesday Football Club or any other football club.

Sefrioui expressed regret over the spread of such claims, adding that the rumors «lack factual support».

Founded in 1867, Sheffield Wednesday was taken over by Thai investor Dejphon Chansiri in 2015. The current owner of the second-division club has already acknowledged the club is facing financial difficulties.

Over the weekend, English media reported new potential buyers for the club, listing Anas Sefrioui as one of the names under consideration.
