A tram passenger in the city of Lyon was violently assaulted—her veil was torn off and she was pushed to the ground. On Monday, the young language student filed a complaint and called for witnesses to come forward. According to her account, the attacker was another woman who threatened to «burn down the kebab shop and beat up the Turks».

The local newspaper Le Progrès reported the incident, which was also confirmed to Le Parisien by the public prosecutor's office. The latter has launched an investigation for «aggravated assault». For now, «the investigations are ongoing to identify the perpetrator» who fled the scene, the source adds.

Shared on social media to find witnesses, the account reflects the complainant's state of shock, as she was stunned and unable to react immediately at the time of the incident.
