After suspending its ties with the Polisario, Ghanaian MPs visit Laayoune

A Ghanaian parliamentary delegation led by Alfred Okoe, Chairman of the Foreign Affairs Committee, visited Laayoune on Wednesday, May 21. During the visit, they met with Bellahi Abbad, Vice President of the Laayoune-Sakia-El Hamra Regional Council.

«This visit allowed the delegation to witness firsthand the implementation of concrete, large-scale projects aimed at supporting development not only in Morocco but also across Africa».

The Ghanaian MPs have been in the Kingdom since Monday, May 19. In Rabat, they were received by the President of the House of Representatives, Rachid Talbi Alami, and the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Nasser Bourita.

Their visit to Laayoune comes just a few months after Ghana’s decision, announced on January 6, to suspend its recognition of the so-called «Sahrawi Arab Democratic Republic (SADR)».

The delegation also includes Norgbey Ernest Henry, Chairman of the Youth and Sports Committee; Cletus Seidu Dapilah, Vice Chairman of the Foreign Affairs and Regional Integration Committee; Peter Lanchene Toobu, Vice Chairman of the Defense and Interior Committee; Samuel Abulai Jinapor, member of the Foreign Affairs and Regional Integration Committee; and Asiedu Ida Adjoa, member of the Defense and Interior Committee, along with several officials and administrative staff.
