On June 11 and 12, the Japanese Embassy handed over three development projects in the provinces of Errachidia and Tinghir as part of its KUSANONE grant program. With a total funding of 1.57 million dirhams, these micro-projects aim to enhance human security at the local level, according to a statement. The initiatives focus on two key priorities: improving access to drinking water and enhancing irrigation systems.

In M’daghra (Errachidia), the ALJID Agricultural Cooperative is benefiting from the construction of a 950-meter concrete canal to irrigate crops for 460 families more efficiently. The goal is to strengthen food security, reduce irrigation time, and help the community adapt to the impacts of climate change.

In Taghzout Nait Atta (Tinghir), a solar-powered pumping system and a water storage basin have been installed to boost agricultural productivity for 3,800 residents. Led by the Bougafer Association, the project also aims to expand the area of cultivable land.

Finally, in the village of Ouaklim (Tinghir), 5,000 residents now have access to drinking water thanks to support provided to the Azag Association. Beyond securing water supply during droughts, the initiative is expected to ease the burden on women and children who previously fetched water and help curb rural exodus.

Since its launch in 1989, the KUSANONE program has supported 374 projects across Morocco, with total funding exceeding 180 million dirhams.
